Tyler Smith


 
 

Tyler Smith founded Ohio Champion Basketball in 2016 to provide the highest level basketball skills and development training available in Cincinnati, Ohio. By combining a unique energy-level to a variety of different training approaches and methodologies, Tyler has helped to create a uniquely effective, intense, and comprehensive training environment. In doing so, has emerged as one of the top basketball trainers in the Midwest. 

 
 

Tyler has coached high school basketball in Cincinnati since 2017 at St. Xavier High School, Purcell Marian, and McNicholas High School. He has also partnered with teams throughout the city to enhance and support offseason skill development and continues to work with grade school, middle school, high school, college, and professional basketball players across the Cincinnati and surrounding areas. Since 2016, Tyler has helped thousands of players in the Cincinnati area of all age and ability levels to reach their goals, improve their confidence, and improve their basketball skill levels.

 
 

Tyler Smith has trained many highly accomplished professional basketball players in the Cincinnati area, including Semaj Christon (OKC Thunder, overseas), Jordan Sibert (Atlanta Hawks, overseas), Darius Bazley (Phoenix Suns, Philadelphia 76ers, Utah Jazz, overseas), Naji Marshall (Dallas Mavericks), Kwan Cheatham (overseas), Tyrique Jones (overseas), Malcolm Bernard (overseas), Charles Cooke (overseas), Devin Williams (overseas), Jordon Crawford (overseas), and 2021 National Champion MaCio Teague (Baylor, Utah Jazz, overseas).

 
 

Tyler currently serves as an assistant varsity basketball coach and offseason director of skills development at Archbishop McNicholas High School. He also coaches the 13U Ohio Champion Basketball AAU team playing in the Under Armour Future circuit and continues to serve as Ohio Champion Basketball’s Director of Player Development.

Trey Scotti


 
 

Trey Scotti joined Ohio Champion Basketball as a partner at the company in 2023 and basketball skills trainer.

Scotti served as the head manager for the Indiana University Men’s basketball team from 2013-17 under Tom Crean, which included a 2016 Big Ten Championship.

Trey then spent the 2017-18 season at Xavier as a graduate assistant under Travis Steele before being promoted to Xavier Men’s Basketball Director of Basketball Operations in 2018.

During his combined experience in the Indiana and Xavier University Men’s basketball programs, Trey Scotti took part in the development of many high-level players—many of whom were drafted to the NBA—such as OG Anunoby (Toronto Raptors, New York Knicks), Thomas Bryant (Los Angeles Lakers, Washington Wizards, Denver Nuggets, Miami Heat, Indiana Pacers, Cleveland Cavaliers), Yogi Ferrell (Brooklyn Nets, Dallas Mavericks, Sacramento Kings, Cleveland Cavaliers, Los Angeles Clippers, overseas), Noah Vonleh (Charlotte Hornets, Portland Trail Blazers, Chicago Bulls, New York Knicks, Minnesota Timberwolves, Denver Nuggets, Boston Celtics, overseas), Naji Marshall (Dallas Mavericks), and Colby Jones (Sacramento Kings, Washington Wizards, Detroit Pistons).

Trey maintains his relationships with many Division I basketball coaches throughout the country and provides great leadership, advice, and connections, to players looking to play beyond high school.

 
 

Trey was hired as Head Coach for the High School Boys Varsity Prep team at The Skill Factory, a combination prep school and skills training organization in Atlanta, Georgia. Trey recruited, coached, and developed eleven (11) players with Division I offers within his two seasons at The Skill Factory. Kaden Cooper, a 2023 Oklahoma signee, was the top stock-riser in the country, as he rose from the 260th to 58th ranked player over the course of his two seasons playing in Trey's program.

 
 

In 2025, Trey spearheaded the resurgence of the Ohio Champion Basketball AAU program and continues to serve as AAU Director over the entire program. Our first season saw fourteen (14) boys teams competing from 12U-17U teams. Our top 16U and 17U teams competed in the Under Armour Rise Circuit, with our 17U team—coached by Trey—reaching the UA Rise Championship game in its inaugural season, a major accomplishment for our young and growing program.

Trey combines a deep understanding of college basketball operations and the recruitment process with a diverse array of experience in both skills training and in-game coaching.

Michael Bueter


 
 

Michael Bueter recently joined the Ohio Champion Basketball Training staff in the Fall of 2025. Bueter carries an experienced resume in both the coaching and administrative realms of college and high school basketball.

During the 2018-2019 Men’s College Basketball season, Bueter served as a Graduate Assistant Coach for the Northern Kentucky University Men’s Basketball program. Bueter then moved on to the University of Cincinnati Men’s Basketball program, serving in the same role from 2019-2021.

Michael Bueter then joined Chris Beard’s staff at the University of Texas, where he created all video edits shows to the team for scouting and other purposes, oversaw recruiting management for staff, lead player skill development sessions, and succeeded in academic advancement efforts, with all players Mike worked with maintaining a 3.0 GPA or higher.

 
 

Bueter continued his work in coaching the following year with the Cal State Fullerton’s men’s basketball program, where he was hired as director of basketball operations prior to the 2022-2023 season. Mike was part of a 2022-2023 Cal State program that went 20-13 overall and 12-6 in Big West Conference action and made its second consecutive Big West Tournament Championship Game appearance.

Michael Bueter’s responsibilities at Cal State Fullerton were diverse and impactful, including game scouting responsibilities, daily player development, tracking/stat-keeping of offensive success in-game, organizing program-wide film breakdowns, implementing and elevating Cal State Fullerton’s NIL Collective (Name, Image, Likeness), and serving as the Men’s Basketball liaison for academic success.

 
 

Over the course of his college coaching career, Bueter took part in player development efforts of many high-level players who would go on to play professionally, including Jalen Tate (overseas), Jalen Harris (Toronto Raptors, overseas), Trevon Scott (Cleveland Cavaliers, overseas), Courtney Ramey (overseas), Timmy Allen (Memphis Grizzlies, overseas), and Drew McDonald, Northern Kentucky University’s All-Time Leading Scorer.

 
 

Since 2024, Mike Bueter has worked as an assistant athletic director at Archbishop McNicholas High School as well as assistant varsity basketball coach.

Bueter’s unique experience coaching in several different high-level college programs, working under different coaches, operating within different player development philosophies, and fulfilling a myriad of responsibilities makes him a phenomenal addition to our player development staff at Ohio Championn Basketball.

Ryan Reidy


 
 

Ryan Reidy recently joined the Ohio Champion Basketball Training staff in the Summer of 2025.

A Cincinnati native, Ryan attended McNicholas High School from 2014-2018, where he started for the varsity basketball team all four of his years playing. During that span, Ryan won the McNick Basketball Leadership Award in consecutive years from 2016-2018.

Reidy finished high junior season at McNick as a First Team GCL Central selection, 1st in assists per game (4.4 APG), Second Team DII Ohio District 16, and Honorable Mention DII AP Southwest All-District.

 
 

During Ryan’s senior campaign at McNick, he finished 2nd in the GCL Central in points per game (16.7 PPG), 5th in assists per game (2.9 APG), and lead the conference in steals per game (2.4 SPG). Ryan was selected as GCL Central Player of the Year, First-Team All-GCL Central, First-Team DII Ohio District 16, and First-Team DII Ohio Cincinnati Enquirer Boys Basketball All-Stars en-route to leading his team to a 19-5 record that included at 13-game winning streak to begin the season.

Ryan finished his career at McNick as a 4-year varsity letterman, 3-year varsity captain, 2nd all-time in assists (263 career assists), and 3rd all-time in free throw percentage (84.6% FT).

 
 

Following Reidy’s outstanding high school career, he played four years at Marietta College, a Division III school in the Ohio Athletic Conference. As a 3-year letterman, Ryan’s Marietta teams garnered an 85-18 overall record over his four (4) seasons, including 3x Ohio Athletic Conference Championships, 2x Ohio Athletic Conference Tournament Championships, and two (2) Elite Eight runs in the DIII national tournament. Ryan’s senior campaign at Marietta culminated in a 29-3 overall record-including a 27-game winning streak—and the school’s first ever Final Four appearance.

 
 

Since graduating from Marietta in 2022, Ryan has coached high school basketball as varsity basketball assistant at his alma mater in each of the past four seasons.

Ryan Reidy coaches in our AAU program as the Ohio Champion Basketball 16U Under Armour Rise Circuit AAU team head coach. We are grateful to have Ryan’s experience, dedication, and energy at Ohio Champion basketball.
